Ryan Rusnak,
Co-Founder & CTO

Ryan Rusnak obtained a master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. His career has been comprised of writing software solutions for the Federal Government and building robots on the side. Nick teamed with Ryan to create the software application that solves the two main inefficiencies in critical logistics; transparency and speed. Ryan’s projects have been featured in Popular Science, the Discovery Channel, NBC, BBC, WIRED, Gizmodo, and other media outlets.

Nick Bulcao, Co-Founder and CEO, has owned and scaled several delivery and logistics companies. While running another successful logistics company, Nick recognized numerous ways the logistics industry and customer experience could be improved by better-utilizing technology.

Traditionally, shipments are created over the phone, and stakeholders are updated few and far between major milestones. These updates have become the standard in the industry because most forwarders don’t know the exact location of the shipment. The forwarder collaborates with local dispatchers over the phone who in turn call their drivers to coordinate shipment updates. This process is extremely error-prone with very little validation leading to drivers picking up the wrong number of pieces, vastly inaccurate quoting, and arriving well outside of promised pickup and delivery windows.

Time-critical logistics is full of difficult problems from quoting to tracking. Customers were getting a poor experience because the industry was trying to solve these problems using the same antiquated practices. I knew our customers needed a modern platform that could provide the level of transparency and error prevention that these critical shipments deserve. These problems could not be solved with off the shelf technology so we got to work making our own.

Currently, our platform provides our customers with direct visibility to the driver throughout the entire delivery process while providing stakeholders with notifications based on location, status, and ETA. Because we work directly with independent contractor drivers, we’re able to pay them more and retain the very best. In turn, they love working with us.

Airspace is different than any other freight forwarder because we provide 100% transparency in real-time to our customers at every stage of the delivery process. It shocked me that, there are human organs being transported that cannot be tracked from beginning to end, and it is our mission to change that.
